Committees

Most of the work of Harvey County United Way is accomplished through committee service. At this time, there are three standing committees. All are comprised of both board members and community members:

  • The Campaign Committee plans, guides, monitors and communicates results of the annual fundraising campaign. Work is typically conducted April through January for the campaign which officially runs September through December.
  • The Community Investment Committee members review grant applications, visit organizations, participate in two full days of interviews, and then re-convene to make award recommendations for Board consideration. The Board of Directors retains ultimate authority for funding decisions. This Committee typically works January – March.
  • The Community Impact Committee assesses community needs and initiatives to meet those needs. Currently, this group oversees the literacy program, including promoting early reading through the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, as well as Tools for Schools. In the future, the committee will explore additional initiatives in the areas of Education, Health and Income.
